We are updating our Speed Management Strategy (SMS) which provides a consistent approach to setting speed limits in Hertfordshire.
We receive several hundred requests each year from residents and stakeholders to reduce speed limits. We assess each request against the strategy to determine new speed limits and where physical road calming measures are required. This ‘self-enforcing’ approach is in line with the Department for Transport’s Setting Local Speed Limits.
Many residents would like to see less traffic – and slower moving traffic – where they live to encourage quieter, safer streets for all, including children walking to school.
We want to hear your views on current speed limits in the county, as well as the processes we should follow for setting new speed limits. This survey should take 5-10 minutes.
This survey is open until 11.59pm on Monday 16 February.
