HERT Strategy section 3 Strategic Context: HERT is a proposed rapid transit network that would provide faster, cleaner and more reliable public transport across Hertfordshire, connecting people to jobs, education, healthcare, town centres and leisure opportunities. By reducing congestion, improving access for all communities, supporting new homes and businesses, and encouraging more walking, cycling and public transport use, HERT would help create healthier, better-connected and more sustainable places to live, work and visit.

4.

Hub Locations

To what extent do you support the proposed approach of locating HERT hubs at town centres, railway stations and major employment destinations?
5.

Which facilities would be most important for you at a HERT hub?

6.

Transport Mode

HERT Strategy section 10 Preferred Mode - Trackless trams operating on existing roads with zero-emission, battery-powered vehicles, trackless trams can provide high-capacity, reliable services without the need for costly rails, overhead wires or major infrastructure works. The system can be introduced in phases, adapted as demand grows and diverted around roadworks or incidents, making it both resilient and scalable.

The strategy proposes trackless trams as the preferred long-term mode of transport for HERT, due to cost and low delivery risk. To what extent do you support this approach?
